  27. The 1968 Democratic convention in Chicago was turbulent enough inside the convention hall as Chicago’s Mayor Daley shouted down anti-war candidate, Eugene McCarthy. Outside it was a lot worse as anti-war protests in Lincoln Park during the day degenerated into a virtual police riot at night--all on national TV.
