  1. Using Desktop Recap to work through Exam revision questions

  2. Reasons for doing it: Alternative method of study Portable – can be viewed anywhere Informal Increase engagement of students Ease the load on staff

  3. What I produced

  4. How does it work Echo360 was used to record the screen, whilst the microphone was used to narrate. I started with a PowerPoint, in which I used the simple animation, appear and disappear functions. Important point – the final video is only 640x480. Small details will not show very well, so set your screen resolution accordingly.

  5. Publishing to Lectopia The recording is uploaded to the streaming service, Lectopia. You can opt to allow students to download the video, or just stream it. Lectopia sends out an email containing a URL pointing to the recording.

  6. How do the students view it? Each recording is linked here

  7. Observations about this exercise. “By far the best aid was the video walk through of the practice exam paper on blackboard if only other subjects did this!”– real feedback from a student. The videos for the Electronics module have been available for two consecutive years, and they have received between 30 – 80 views. This from approx 70 students per year. Must be promoted by the lecturer
