Groups of nations that agreed to come to come to each other’s aid if necessary Triple Alliance (Germany, Italy, and Austria-Hungary) Triple Entente (Great Britain, France, and Russia) Domino Effect if war comes Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia after the assassination of the heir to the Austrian throne by a Serbian. Serbia requested aid from Russia (a secret ally). Russia declared war on Austria-Hungary and the dominos fell. Alliances
