What are “Synchronous Web Conferencing/Collaboration” services? • “Synchronous” – participants are on the system at the same time (presenting, asking questions, etc.). • “Web conferencing” – generally, a presentation (data, audio, video combination) is made from one location to many viewers who have limited interaction with each other and the presenter, perhaps through a text facility (e.g., today’s ePresence session). • “Web conferencing with collaboration” – as above but interactions are flexible, with participants having more equal footing, e.g., able to share presenting across locations, share desktops. Project objective (DRAFT) • Provide a campus service for web conferencing and collaboration ... • that is aligned with related campus directions, • with needs identified through input from campus groups and individuals, and • that satisfies as many diverse needs as is reasonable, without diluting most significant, to prevent proliferation of separately operated services. • Support will be defined as part of the project, as will be “fit” to other products.
