Initial notes  • Unsettling music from the start  • Close up on the violin maybe showing a significance  • The violin represents a theme of wealth  • Shots of people faces in the scene seem tense and an unhappy atmosphere  • Odd canted angle shots  • We follow the older man though the kitchen showing that he has some kind of power or significance.  • The dead carcases of the animals bring forward the idea of violence and death maybe foreshadowing what's about to come. • A sense of perfection when it comes to the food that is being made making the audience ask who its being made for.

4. analysis • The narrative is extremely unclear from this opening scene, this could be seen in two ways. The first way being that the audience is confused and turns off the film, or the sense of mystery draws them into the movie. Tis production seems to be aimed at a more mature audience around the ages of 30-50, although a sci-fi film it has elements of physiological ideas, also taking the themes that are presented in the first scene one of the most prominent being death and violence (dead animals and carcases) this would be inappropriate for younger audiences. The main character in this scene would be the older man in a suit that we follow through the kitchen, what we know about him is limited but it's clear that he holds the power in the kitchen and the facial expressions from the other people present in the kitchen hint there afraid of him. The typical conventions used are the sense of a fictional universe or world, the music that’s playing, the filter over the camera lens, and the attitudes of the people all make up an unsettling and unrealistic environment personally I think this is a good opening sequence, it has suspense mystery and makes you want to watch on.
