Fall Enrollment • Baccalaureate and other first-time, full-time new freshman enrollment is up • Baccalaureate academic credentials have increased once again • Overall enrollment is down by 2.6% • Decline shown particularly at the sophomore class level • Undergraduate transfers at the sophomore level down 32 • Undergraduate readmits at the sophomore level down 30 • Freshman to sophomore retention down 4% • Student credit hours down 1.6%

Fall Enrollment • Aggressive research undertaken to better understand contributing factors • Telephone survey of U.P. former students eligible to return • Mail survey to L.P. and out of state former baccalaureate new freshmen eligible to return • Parent survey of admitted but withdrawn prospective new freshmen

Recruitment Activities to Gain an Edge • High Touch • Wildcat Weekend (www.nmu.edu/weekend) • Coffee with a Counselor • Personal follow-up through follow-up system • Outreach with classroom and parent presentations • Increased cross-communication in athletic recruitment process • Referral/personalized follow-up with freshman-to-transfer prospects • Intentional targeted outreach to counselors at schools in region “OTHER” from which we’ve receive applicants
