What is a set of Standard Operating Procedures? • SOP Guide, Page 3: Standard operating procedures are specific procedures and agreements among organisations that reflect the plan of action and individual organisations’ roles and responsibilities. As such, SOPs are companion documents that support the GBV plan of action. • What is the plan of action? Do you have one? It is not the SOP.

  6. The Process • SOP Guide, page 3 Development of SOPs is a process that must involve all relevant actors. The process of developing SOPs is as important as the final SOP product.

  7. The process itself can be considered an intervention, in that it engages all of the relevant actors and will involve collaboration, inter-organizational and inter-sectoral dialogue, community participation, negotiation, and thereby increase all participants’ understanding of how to prevent and respond to gender-based violence.
