SC19 Updates: New and Revised Standards for Completion Equipment and Flow Control Systems

The SC19 report to SC18 covers critical updates in standards pertaining to Completion Equipment, including Perforating, Packers, Bridge Plugs, Subsurface Flow Control, Sand Screens, Gas Lift, Barrier Valves, and more. We have 15 standards currently under revision or newly created. Key updates include the first ballots for Packers and Bridge Plugs, Subsurface Safety Valves, installation standards, and sand screens. The Gas Lift Handbook is also in the early stages, aiming for publication in 2016. Stay informed on the evolving standards crucial for operational excellence in well completion.

  1. SC19 report to SC18 SC 19 covers Perforating, Packers & Bridge Plugs, Subsurface Flow Control, Sand Screen, Gas Lift, Barrier Valves, Completion accessories, Liner Hangers. We have 15 standards in revision or newly created. • 11D1 – Packers and Bridge Plugs – first ballot in Q1, 2014 – hope to publish in Q2/Q3 • 14A – Subsurface Safety Valve – first ballot closes 12 Feb. – hope to publish in Q2/Q3 • 14B – SSSV installation – ballot in Q1, 2014 – hope to publish in Q2/Q3 • 19S – Sand Screens – adopt-back of ISO 17824 – initial ballot in Q1, 2015 • 19L – Liner Hangers – in process – potential publication in 2015 • 19A – Completion Accessories – adopt-back of ISO 14998 - SR3 to revise just submitted • 19B – Peforators – Revising by section • RP67 – Explosive Safety – revising entire document (just beginning) • 19TT1 –Downhole Well Test Tools – approximately 85% complete – ballot in Q2, 2014 • Gas Lift Handbook – just beginning – replaces several RPs – hope to publish in 2016 • 19G1 – Side-pocket mandrels – SR3 to revise just submitted • 19G2 – Flow control devices – first ballot in Q3, 2014 • 19G3 – Running, pulling, & K/O tools – Color coding complete. Minor changes needed. • 19G5 – Operations & Maintenance of GL - SR3 to revise just submitted • 19G6 – Design of installations using IPO valves – 90% complete – initial ballot in Q1, 2014 • API Monogram program, Q1 well understood and utilized with the SC documents.
