  2. Kalimat pasif adalah kalimat yang subjeknya dikenai pekerjaan oleh objek kalimat. be ... Ing dalam kalimat pasif menjadi ‘being’ dalam bentuk pasif. Tense pada kalimat pasif mengikuti bentuk kalimat aktifnya. Verb 3 pada kalimat pasif dibentuk oleh verb pada kalimat aktifnya. Hanya kalimat transitif (kalimat yang mengandung objek. Ex : buy, bring, give, tell, help, visit, drink, etc) yang bisa dirubah ke dalam bentuk pasif. Kalimat pasif digunakan tatkala ingin menonjolkan hasil tindakan daripada pelaku tindakan tersebut.
