Discuss the following questions • How did the teachers introduce the context? • How did the children develop and share the ideas introduced in the news report video? • How did the teachers engage the students in discussion? • How did the children make their decisions? • What alternatives to banning did the children generate? • How did the teachers conclude the lesson? • What aspects of the curriculum are covered by the lesson?

Main Lesson Activities • Watch ‘News Report’ video www.teachers.tv/videos/news-report • What arguments and evidence were used to support the ban? • What arguments and evidence were used to oppose the ban? • How would you use the video to enable your students to record and discuss the arguments for and against? • How would you introduce the ideas of ‘fact’ and ‘opinion’? • How would you facilitate group decision making? • How would you encourage students to develop alternative ideas to banning?
