  2. What is a thunderstorm? • A thunderstorm is a storm with lightning and thunder. • Lightning is a bright flash of electricity made by a thunderstorm. Every thunderstorm has lightning.

  5. When do thunderstorms happen? • Can happen all year • At any time of day or night • Most likely to happen during spring and summer months • Most likely to happen during afternoon and evening hours

  6. Thunderstorm Safety • If you hear thunder, go inside! • The best place to go is a car or sturdy building. • If you can’t get inside, stay away from trees and crouch down. • Stay away from water, whether you are inside or outside. Do not use computers or telephones during a storm.
