  1. Audio/IT Ministry and Worship Ministry Fellowship 2011 Chinese Immanuel Church

  2. Audio/IT Ministry • You must work with worship leader to go over the songs before the service. • Be familiar with the song selections. • Be familiar with the equipment. • Pay close attention to the worship leader. • Be proactive about adjusting microphone and speaker volume.

  3. Audio/IT Ministry • If there are issues, please resolve them as soon as practicable. (e.g. no audio on the message on the website) • Be early and play quiet music to help brothers and sisters to prepare their hearts for worship. • Review songs on cicsongs@gmail.com • Know when to adjust the lights.

  4. Worship Ministry Worship Is… • Giving reverence and honor to something that is worthy. • Adoration – an expression of our love for God because of His greatness, majesty, power, mercy, grace, love, steadfastness, and faithfulness. • God-centered, not believer-centered. It is “seeing Him who is invisible” and responding to Him.

  5. Worship Is… • Not a spectator event. It involves us as a whole being – bodies, minds, spirit, and emotions. • Not just singing and music. It is becoming more aware of how wonderful God is and how unworthy we are.

  6. Worship Leader’s Prerequisites… • Committed Christian – must be attending this church regularly for at least 6 months. • Practical experience as a member of the worship team (as a singer or musician.) • Attend Wednesday prayer meetings regularly. (This helps to be aware of our church’s specific prayer needs.) • An anointing to lead worship.

  7. Worship Leader’s Role… • The worship leader must be prepared spiritually as well as musically. He/she must come to his/her place of service having walked with God. • The worship leader must never be a performer or entertainer, but a worshipper. It about loving the Lord and serving Him. • In order to lead people to move the heart of God, we must first be there ourselves.

  8. General Guidelines for Worship leaders… • Songs should be relevant to occasion and theme. • Be on time to the pre-service rehearsal. • Lead prayer before rehearsing and during the pre-service prayer time. • Have an idea of how the song list will be executed musically, i.e., run the songs through in your head first.

  9. Communicate your ideas and actively take part in the pre-service rehearsal. • Dress appropriately and not draw any attention to yourself. • Know when the Lord would have the music cease and hand over to the announcement.

  10. Worship Leader Reminders… • Regular prayer life • Be spiritually prepared to lead. Without spending that time building a relationship with God, the worship leader will find that all his/her effort will be in vain • Make eye contact with the congregation.

  11. Be enthusiastic. Your attitude is contagious! • Make sure the key is singable (not too high, not too low). • Give the accompanists adequate time to practice/rehearse songs. • Be audible. If they can’t hear you, they’ll sing softly or not at all.

  12. Don’t introduce too many new songs. One new song max. Ideally, this song should be introduced at another meeting such as Wednesday Prayer Meeting, Friday Worship or Youth Group. • Don’t arrive late! Rehearsal must end by 9:15 • Don’t be long-winded or talk too much. If you need to talk, make sure it’s relevant and reverent.

  13. Don’t have the congregation stand too long. • Don’t open free-flow prayer time too long. Be clear with your expectation. • Don’t overdo repeating choruses. • Don’t keep telling brothers and sisters that you had a tough week.

  14. Contemporary and Classic • We need to find a balance as well as depth in this area. • Ideally at least one classic hymn each time

  15. Our Current Situation with Communion- • The following brothers and sisters are working together to play piano during communion: • 1st week Hannah Chu (Tim) • 2nd week Vincent Chao (Chung Tao) • 3rd week Jane Hsii (Yi-Guo) • 4th week Shannon Wong (Dow-ping) • 5th week Hannah Chu (Tim)

  16. Thank you for your services!
