Training and Standardizing Exam Administrators 1. One day before each exam • Sending proctoring guidelines so that invigilators are aware of their roles and responsibilities • Sending invigilation list so that nobody will be in their own classes • Sending a marking list (Along with necessary information: Marking time, Place and Marking leader) 2. 15 minutes before each exam • Getting the exam pack from the testing office • Counting the booklets so that there are no missing booklets. 3. During the exam • Instructors wait for the stand-by to start and finish the exam 4. After the exam • Instructors bring the exam packs directly back to the Testing Office.
MARKING (Writing and Productive Marking) • Grading the exams according to the answer keys and/or writing rubric provided by the Testing Office. • Marking on the same day or the following day together at an assigned class. • Double marking (first marking with a red pencil and second with a green one) • Marking the assigned classes (not their own) • Randomly chosen paper is copied and given to all instructors before each marking session • If the gap between the markers is more than 15 points, the interlocutors are supposed to grade the students again (3rd marking if necessary).
MARKING (Speaking) • Sample speaking performances of students from each level are sent in advance. • Double marking (One more experienced) • Marking the students individually and then calculating the average grade. • Grading according to the speaking rubric • If there is a difference of 15 points and higher, the interlocutors are supposed to grade the students again after revising the performance of the student.
