Presidential Task Force • Eight members, representing the areas of: • financial administration and institutions, • academic concerns, including laboratories, • plant and equipment, • networks, servers and personal computers, • all administrative systems • Has met at least monthly since June, 1998 • Web site: Andrews University Y2K Web Site

  4. What have we done? • Tested 75% of PCs on campus • Familiarized with Y2K issues • Delivered Y2K awareness presentations • Researched Y2K tracking solutions • Developed a tracking package in-house • Documented COBOL programs still in use • Hired a Y2K Coordinator on contract • Developed a project plan and schedule

  5. Results of PC Testing • 800 PCs were tested last summer (75%) • Projection: 300+ PCs will fail in year 2000 • Capital replacement costs: • $850 to $1,300 per system • $150 to $300 per monitor • Labor & software costs: $30-40K

  6. Where are we now? • Departmental Y2K Coordinators have been appointed and are being trained • Our tracking software is being deployed • Y2K Task Force members are working on Y2K issues in their areas • Banner is compliant (since Thanksgiving) • COBOL programs are being converted

  7. What’s next? • Support Departmental Coordinators • Analyze inventory once collected • Determine impact and priorities • Plan and implement repairs/replacements • Plan and test contingency plans
