  2. Ethnicity • Ethnicity or ethnic group is a socially defined category of people who identify with each other based on a perceived shared social experience or ancestry. This can be recognised by Cultural heritage, Ancestry, History, Homeland, Language or Dialect.

  3. The distinction between race and ethnicity is considered highly problematic. Ethnicity is often assumed to be the cultural identity of a group from a nation state, while race is assumed to be biological and/or cultural essentialization of a group hierarchy of superiority/inferiority related to their biological constitution. Ethnic Stereotypes An ethnic stereotypeis a simplified and often misleading representation of an ethnic group, composed of what are thought to be typical characteristics of members of a given ethnic group. Spanish Stereotypes Bullfighting and Flamenco Well Dressed Talk very loud. White British Stereotypes Very Proud Drink a lot of Tea and eat Fish and Chips Examples: Indian Stereotypes All Indians are either Engineers or Doctors. Indians are not Sociable African Caribbean's Stereotypes Listen to explicit Rap Music increasing Gun Crime. White Irish Stereotypes Drink a lot and always get Drunk. Have pale skins and Freckles.
