  2. COURSE CONTRACT • Assessment Criteria • Assessment components: • Mid Semester Test : 20% • Final Semester test : 30% • Authentic Assessment : 30% • Quiz : 20%

  4. Notes for Students • You have to wear shoes and dress ethically. • There is an assignment at the end of almost every meeting, and you have to hand in the paper before the next meeting begins. The assignment must be hand-written on paper A4. • You have to bring a pair of Echols dictionaries every meeting. • If you do not attend the meeting where other students get assignments, you have no right to hand in the paper. • If your attendance is less than 80% (less than 11 times), you have no right to sit for the final test. • The result of every paper after being graded, mid semester test, final semester test and the final grade will be announced onhttp://dosenmangguraukit.wordpress.com. You have no right to complain the grade that has been stated after one week posted. • The final semester test is held one time, and there is no remedial test. • Everything related to grade should be done at campus not at lecturer’s home. • The students who get grade E, are stated failed.

Course Objective • After completing this course, the students are expected to be able to: • Listen for specific information • Listen for prediction • Listen for matching with a summary • Listen for completing and note-taking • Listen for evaluating, comparing with own reaction, and rating • Listen for particular information

  6. Listen comprehension • Listening is more complex than merely hearing. It is a process that consists of four stages: sensing and attending, understanding and interpreting, remembering, and responding • Elements and Levels of Listening"There are four elements of good listening:attention--the focused perception of both visual and verbal stimuli • hearing--the physiological act of 'opening the gates to your ears' • understanding--assigning meaning to the messages received • remembering--the storing of meaningful information

  7. Ten Keys to Effective Listening • Find areas of interest. • Judge content, not delivery. • Hold your fire. • Listen for ideas. • Be flexible. • Work at listening. • Resist distractions. (menentanghalangan) • Exercise your mind • Keep your mind open. • Anticipate, summarize, weigh the evidence, and look between the lines.
