Breast (Mammary Gland)Inactive Stage • Abundant connective tissue • Scarcity of glandular tissue • A glandular lobule consists of: • Smaller intralobular ducts lined by cuboidal or low columnar epithelium • Intralobular ducts are surrounded by loose intralobular connective tissue • Myoepithelial cells at the base of epithelium • Larger interlobular ducts are surrounded by dense interlobular connective tissue

Breast (Mammary Gland)Stage of Proliferation & Early Pregnancy • The intralobular ducts undergo rapid proliferation & forms terminal buds which differentiate into Alveoli • Alveoliare empty at this stage • The intralobular ducts and Alveoli are lined by luminal epithelium and myoepithelial cells • Loose intralobular connective tissue surrounds the alveoli and ducts
