2. The Simple Past Tense Geçmişte belli bir zamanda yapılan eylemleri anlatmak için The Simple Past Tense (Di'li Geç­miş Zaman) kullanılır. Olumlu cümlede yardımcı fiil yer almaz. Asıl fiil past (geçmiş) haldedir. İngilizcede fiiller regular (düzenli), irregular (düzensiz)olarak ikiye ayrılır. Düzenli fiiller,sonlarına d, ed, ied eklerinden birini alırlar. arrivearrived, brushbrushed, tidytidied olur. Olumlu cümle şöyle kurulur: Subject+verb2+object. (Özne +fiil(ikinci halde)+ nesne.)
