  2. Day 1 9/11 • Today, we researched how to skin the cat. We also researched on the anatomy of the cat. We found some reliable sources and emailed these sources to Mrs. Beatty.

  3. Day 2 9/15 • Today, we continued to research the process of skinning the cat. • Step 1: Label our bag with the cat • Step 2: Drain the fluid in the bag • Step 3: Lie the cat on its back. • Step 4: Cut along the ventral midline, then along the ventral surface of the limbs. • Step 5: Carefully tease the skin away.

  4. Day 2 9/15 (continued) • Step 6: Cut around either side of the perineum toward the tail. • Step 7: Skin the head. • Step 8: The cat is skinned.

  5. Day 3 9/16 • Today, the groups drew numbers to find out what cat they would get. Our group drew number 10. After receiving our cat, we drained the fluids out of the bag. Then we washed the cat and got a pad(diaper) to lie it on. Gene started by cutting open the cat down the ventral midline and began to tease the skin off the cat.

  8. Day 4 9/17 • Today, we cut down the ventral surface of the limbs and removed the skin from all four limbs. We skinned the back legs first and the front legs last.

  9. Day 4 9/17 Pictures

  10. Day 5 9/18 • We skinned the back up to the neck. Then, we cut around the nose and cut off the ears. We pulled the skin carefully back, and just as we were about to finish skinning, it was time for class to be over, so we put the cat back up.

  12. Day 6 9/19 • Today, we finished off skinning the head, and finally, the entire cat was skinned. After skinning the cat, we then cut down the ventral midline again, making sure to cut the diaphragm thoroughly. After making this cut, the liquids inside the cat were drained out. Then, with the fluids drained, we cut the ribs so we could further open up and begin to identify parts of the cat.

  15. Day 7 9/22 • Today, we continued to study the inside of the cat, and finally came to the ultimate conclusion that our cat is a boy. We cut open the stomach and intestines so we could explore inside. Inside, we found partially digested food particles inside. We identified the parts of the cat.

  16. Day 7 9/22 Pictures

  17. Day 8 9/23 • Today, we finalized taking photos of our cat and put our cat up for good. We also began to work on this power point.
