Affirmative Informal commands w/ prepositions + practice • Overview/Purpose: To be able to tell someone that you refer to as “tú” to do something. • Content Objective: To learn command forms of familiar verbs. • Language Objective: Students will be able to orally tell three other students to do something, using the correct form of the verb.

  4. On your papers… • Find the affirmative commands in Exercise A, circle them • Underline the Direct Object Pronoun

  5. Affirmative Informal Commands • To tell someone you address with “tú” to do something • Talk to your mother! • Use the “tú” form of the verb • Hablar -> hablas • Drop the “s” • HABLA • ¡Habla con tu madre! • In Spanish we talk “with” people & not “to” them

  12. Irregular Commands • Some commands will not follow the pattern… • For most, you’ll remove the ending from the infinitive • Tener ( to have) • Ten • ¡Ten el libro! Have/take the book!

Affirmative informal commands with pronouns • Remember: you can put a direct object pronoun at the end of an infinitive. • Voy a preparar la pizza • La voy a preparar. • Voy a prepararla. • You can only do this at the end of an infinitive! • -ar, -er, -ir • Only if there is a conjugated verb first • Quiero comerlo

  23. Commands with direct object pronouns • You can also put the direct object pronoun at the end of an affirmative informal command • Pon el pollo en el refrigerador. • Ponlo en el refrigerador. • Come lasverduras. • Cómelas.

  24. Accents on commands • If your commands with pronouns are three or more syllables, you put an accent on the 3rd to the last syllable: • Cómelo • Ábrelas • Invítalos

Meinecke’s desk • Cup = taza Teaspoon = cucharadita • Table spoon = cucharada Pinch/dash = pizca • abrir=to open añadir=to add mezclar=to mix cortar=to cut sacar=take out • 2. Translate the instructions using your new vocabulary and the command formate you just learned.
