Credentials of NCLB • States must test at least 95 % of students with disabilities. • Specified that states could use other methods of assessment. • Highly qualified teachers must be hired . • Response-to-Intervention process involved in providing intervention services for students. • Those students could be referred for special education.

Positives Negatives • Standards are set for teacher qualifications. • "Scientific-based research" • Emphasizes reading, writing and math. • Close the achievement gap. • Equal education • Teachers teach to the test • Schools are labeled as failures • No recognition • High drop out rate • Federal Underfunding • Tenure

South Korea • The aims of education at the high school level are stated as “to foster each students personality and ability needed to preserve and strengthen the backbone of the nation. • To develop e students knowledge and skills to prepare them for jobs needed in society • To promote each students autonomy emotional development and critical thinking abilities to be brought to bear in and out of school • To improve physical strength and foster a sound mind. • National Curriculum- revised every 5 to 10 years
