  2. about the book: MandyBy: Julie Andrews edwards 10-year-old Mandy feels lost among all the other kids at the orphanage and she logs for a place to call her own. When Mandy climbs the walls of the orphanage, she finds a deserted cottage in the woods. Mandy starts spending more time at the cottage everyday. One day, Mandy goes to the cottage on a rainy day and gets very sick. Nobody knows that she’s there, except for a special friend that she never knew she had!

  5. The similarities: Between the secret garden and Mandy • They are both girls of a similar age. • They both find a garden that they then go off to. • They are both orphans, and don’t have a lot of friends. • They both keep this garden secret (hence the name The Secret Garden)

  6. About the author: Julie Andrews Edwards Julie Elisabeth Andrews Edwards is a well known English actress for her roles in The Sound Of Music and Mary Poppins. She has earned many awards such as a golden globe, Emmi, Grammy, BAFTA, Peoples’ choice award, and an Academy Award. She is also a well known author for her books: Mandy, The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles, and the Great American Mousical. Currently, Andrews is stil acting, in her more recent films: The Princess Diaries, andShreck.
