Some Historic Pics of Warwick and Stanthorpe Part 1 These first are views over the years of White House at St Catharine’s, and of the house next door that became Glover Have also put in an old one of PGC for those of us who went there for Science – some of the PGC girls also came to C.E.G.S. for Latin with Miss Cant Then there are groups of students at St Caths at Warwick and at Stanthorpe ………… just love the one of the picnic especially! There are also some of Slade and some aerial views of Warwick Pictures selected from bonzle.com.au by Lynne Johnson [1959-1962]

Another group of girls are standing talking to a nun. The school building is pictured in the background.In 1909 a school was opened in Stanthorpe by the Sisters of the Sacred Advent, St. Catharine. In 1936 the Church of England Girl's School in Warwick merged with St. Catharine's School, Stanthorpe. The school is under the control of the Sisters of the Sacred Advent.   15. Slade's Church of England Grammer School in Warwick was opened in February 1926. The photograph shows the grounds of the school including from left to right: Barnes House - built in 1927, Slade House, previously Slade House or the Eastmont residence, purchased in 1918, and classrooms built in 1929. This photograph is taken about 1937 after the depression. Relief workers provided by the government did extensive work on the school grounds in the thirties. The school was formally closed at the end of 1997. The view from the higher vantage point looks out over the town of Warwick to the surrounding hills.
