  1. Food for Life 2.0 Everyone should get a chance to take prasadam!

  2. What is Food for Life? It IS: A program for distributing prasadam to EVERYONE, that is packaged and executed according to time, place and circumstance. It is NOT: A program for feeding the poor

  3. The Basis of KCM “TheKrishna consciousness movement is based on this principle: chant the Hare Krishna mantra at every moment, as much as possible, both inside and outside of the temples, and, as far as possible, distribute prasada. This process can be accelerated with the cooperation of state administrators and those who are producing the country's wealth. Simply by liberal distribution of prasada and sankirtan, the whole world can become peaceful and prosperous.” (SB 4.12.10 Purport)

  4. 1. As Far as Possible • “…as far as possible, distribute prasada” • “Everyone should get a chance to take prasadam...” (CC Antya lila 1.32 pp), • “this activity [prasadam distribution] should be expanded universally...” (CC Mad. 4.93)

  5. 2. The Strategy • “This process can be accelerated with the cooperation of state administrators and those who are producing the country’s wealth.”

  6. FFL opens the door • “My idea is, I want to draw the attention of the authorities. If they cooperate, then we can push on our movement more vigorously. We are doing it on a small scale. It is going on. But if we get the support of the authorities, we can push on in a larger scale” (Lilamrita Vol. 6 p. 65). • “…if the leaders of present day society can be persuaded of our beneficial working for the human welfare, and if they help us somehow to spread what they have learned from us to the people in general, that is the point to be considered...(SP letter to Damodara January 9, 1973).

  7. 3. Benediction “Simply by liberal distribution of prasada and sankirtan, the whole world can become peaceful and prosperous.”

  8. Where is that quote? SB 4.12.10 Purport

  9. Why deny or discourage? • Debates on the methods and strategies used to do prasadam distribution are unproductive • The FACT IS: people are getting prasadam • Personally, I don’t waste my time arguing anymore

  10. Emergency Relief

  11. Emergency Relief • Tsunami 2004: Over 300,000 plates of prasadam • Katrina 2005: 150,000 plates of prasadam • Haiti: 2010: • Japan 2011: 50 tons of prasadam

  12. Japan 2010

  13. Haiti

  14. Everyone? How can we practically carry out Prabhupada’s desire that EVERYONE get a chance to take prasadam? • There are only so many devotees • There are only so many cooks • Not enough money

  15. Midday Meals • Millions of meals daily • Still, more than 30,000 children die of malnutrition • 60 Jumbo Jet crashes daily!

  16. Start with • ENCOURAGE what is going on • INVEST in prasadam distribution • Always try to BUILD ON your success

  17. 50% of our income “. . . The attempt must go on to convert unwilling men to become His devotees. Lord Caitanya has taught a very simple method in this connection. He has taught the lesson for preaching the transcendental message through singing, dancing and refreshment. As such, fifty percent of our income may be spent for this purpose” (SB 1.5.36).

  18. Change the paradigm Consider this: • ISKCON doesn’t own the patent on prasadam? • Lord Chaitanya’s mercy is available to everyone • Everyone is a devotee of Krishna

  19. Empowerment • By leading by example and also teaching people the culture of spiritual hospitality we can more efficiently expand prasadam distribution far beyond the limited capacities of the institution • Have a more INCLUSIVE attitude

  20. FFL 2.0 Many Church groups and vegetarian activists have purchased this book.

  21. FOOD YOGA • The Complete Story • The art and science of connecting with food so that you nourish your body, mind and soul

  22. Potential • Food Yogi Certification programs • Food Yogi SATTVIC SEAL • Offering kits for restaurants and homes • Food Yogi Retreats • Food Yogi Workshops • Food Yogi Lifestyle products

  23. A Vaisnava’s compassion, knows no limit it is said, “Oceanic and sweet — distinguished as gold, not lead. Such compassion, you’ll not find in the mundane welfare realm, it emanates from the heart — and has the ability to overwhelm. Dispelling dryness and insecurity, from the hearts of “homeless souls,” Instilling faith in the faithless — establishing spiritual goals. Although externally appearing, like many other missions, the essence we’re preserving — through transcendental vision. Simply saving shirts (or bodies), neglecting swimmer (the soul), “is a waste of valuable time,” we are emphatically told! Our aim is to go deeper — our service personalized, become expert in both realms, “complete welfare” combined! No need to be fanatical, our mission is foretold — “In every town and village,” inundating the young, the poor and the old!
