Wireless Network EvolutionAT&T has continuously improved network speeds to provide you with the best mobile Internet experience Faster Speeds LTE Can Deliver 4G Speeds with Enhanced Backhaul* Theoretical Peak 73 Mbps (est) HSPA+ Theoretical Peak 21.6 Mbps (est) HSPA 7.2 • Theoretical Peak 7.2 Mbps • Launched 4G LTE in 75 markets • LTE network build to be largely completed by YE 2013 HSDPA • Theoretical Peak 3.6 Mbps UMTS • Theoretical Peak 384 Kbps EDGE • Theoretical Peak 237 Kbps GPRS Theoretical Peak 48 Kbps 2013 2005 2011 Present Past Future All future activity depicted in this presentation for informational purposes only and is subject to change by AT&T without further notice. Based on theoretical peak speeds. Actual speed experienced will be less. * Limited 4G LTE availability in select markets. 4G speeds are delivered by HSPA+ (with enhanced backhaul) or LTE, where available. Compatible device and data plan required. LTE is a trademark of ETSI. Learn more at att.com/network.
LTE & DAS LTE offers greater capacity and speed • Long Term Evolution (LTE) utilizes an all-IP based network architecture that has lower latency, which is essential for high demand data applications. • LTE supports Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) that has multiple Transmit & Receive antennas (each able to transmit & receive an independent data stream). • In theory, a 2x2 MIMO configuration should be able to double throughput. Signal quality, RF Environments & Venue Types impact the level of improved throughput. • Antenna spacing is key. The distance between the individual transmit & receive antennas impact the signals to be able to be deciphered as separate data streams.
MIMO Advantages / Disadvantages Design guidelines and performance requirements are complex issues
