  2. Founding Fathers • George Washington was soon to command the army • Benjamin Franklin invented the lightning rod • Thomas Jefferson replaced Randolph • John Adams was the 3rd president of the United States of America

  3. Regions in The Thirteen Colonies • New England: Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut and, Rhode Island. • Middle Colonies: New York, Pennsylvania , New Jersey and, Delaware. • Southern Colonies: Maryland, Virginia, North and South Carolina and, Georgia.

  4. What made the Regions Unique • Colonists had bad winters and good summers in New England • In the middle colonies, colonists had moderate summers and winters • In the southeast they had long summers and short winters

  5. Tools They Used Back Then • Some tools are saws, hammers and, chisels.

  6. Jobs in Colonial Times • Coopers made casks for almost anything • Blacksmiths crafted hardware • Shoemakers made shoes
