Kate the Caterpillar!!!

2. It was Saturday morning and the sun light could just be seen through the trees. Kate woke up and got out of bed. She crawled out of her grassy hut and looked around. It was a lovely day. Just the right weather for some sun-bathing or day-dreaming. It’s the weekend so no school and no homework. Kate thought that weekends were great!

3. She really wanted to call her best friend Sasha, to tell her about the great weather, but she knew Sasha was too busy. Sasha was travelling to France for a weekend and there was no way Kate would spoil Sasha’s great weekend. Sasha

4. Maybe Sasha was on the top of the Eifel Tower and Kate would just call her in the middle of her tremendous view, it would probably make Sasha home-sick. Kate would never want to do that!!!

5. So Kate crawled into a tree and lay down staring at the light blue sky. “There’s not a cloud to see!” Kate sighed, “How wonderful! As Kate lay on a tree branch she started to get Flashbacks…

6. Oh how lovely it was when it was Kate's 5th birthday and her mum made the biggest cake in whole Leafland! It took a her 3 weeks to make, but it was worth it!!!! It lasted them 7 month to eat!

7. It would have lasted them less if daddy was there, but of course he had no time, he was in India on flying lessons since he has already turned into a butterfly, Kate remembered with a sigh.

8. As Kate heard the wind rustling the leaves, she pulled herself out of her Flashback. She felt sad remembering this flashback. Her 4th birthday was the last time she saw her dad in years. Kate missed her dad terribly, but she still believed that some day he would come back home.

9. Kate thought for a while about her dad, then decided not to let that thought bother her. It was a way too good day to spoil. Kate felt exhausted, yesterday she had a geography test, a math test and a spelling test with more than 150 words!!!!

10. She looked at herself. “I’m not dark green enough” Kate said to her self, “I could do with some more she looked at herself. “I’m not dark green enough” Kate said to her self, “I could do with some more sunbathing.” So she lay herself into a comfy position, and started thinking again… sunbathing.” So she lay herself into a comfy position, and started thinking again… Kate got another flashback… This time about Christmas…

11. She was 7 years old this Christmas. She still believed in Santa Clause at that time. She thought this was one of the best times in her whole life. She got so many presents she could practically swim in them!!! Kate got 2 presents from each of her relatives. Guess what! She has 25 relatives!!! So she got 50 presents!!! What a lucky caterpillar. She thought Santa had brought all of them so she wrote him a letter… • Dear Santa Clause, • Thanks for the 50 lovely presents. They were great! • How did you know I like Barbie dolls? You got me Samantha! • The most expensive! Everyone is jealous of me. I even sneaked Samantha into school !!! I hope mama and dada won’t find out!!! • Next year I’d like a Nintendo DS. • Bye, LOTS of love, • Kate☺

12. Kate certainly got in some trouble after that. She wasn’t allowed sleep with Winnie the Pooh for 4 days! How horrid is that! “You know the rules sweetie, no toys allowed at school. That’s why you got into trouble.” Kate’s mum (Mrs. Leafs) said. “Sorry mama… but how did you find out?” Kate said. Mrs. Leafs looked at her husband. He stared back at her. “Uh... We found Samantha in your school bag sweetheart.”Mr. Leafs said. “Oh… I thought I took her out on time.” Kate said. Once again Kate pulled herself out of her flashback. She thought that was a better flashback than the one before, but still this flashback made her miss Pooh.

13. Kate sat up and thought about what she had seen so far. She had a good flashback and a not so good flashback. “Wait” she thought, “I can’t end the day with a memory that makes me upset! Anyway, I could still do with another 15 minutes sunbathing." So Kate lay down and relaxed. So Kate remembered another flashback… Kate and Sasha were in a deserted playground. They where 4 this time and they thought it was cool to be in a deserted playground. Nowadays Kate is scared being alone, but now it was no problem. They looked around. “ Lets go on the Round About! No, I meant the swings! Sasha shouted with joy. “But I want to go on the See-Saw or the Climbing Frame! Kate exclaimed. “What about we go on all of them?!” Sasha asked eagerly. “Great idea, Sasha!” Kate said. So of the two friends went. First on the Round About, then on the swings. Now they where on the see-saw when Billy the Bully came striding in the play ground with his mate Roger…

14. “Well, well, well, look who we have here…” Billy sneered. “Two little caterpillars.” Roger said. “I wasn't asking you, Roger!” Billy shouted. “Sorry!” Roger said. “Whatever! Now, what should we do with these little midgets?” “I don’t know!” Roger exclaimed. “Again Roger, I wasn’t asking you!” Billy shouted. “OK” Roger mumbled, upset that he disappointed Billy. “What should we do with these little guys? I have an idea… Sasha and Kate looked at each other nervously. Billy grabbed Sasha by the leg and swung her to the top of the climbing frame. “Help!” Sasha cried. Kate was shocked by the idea of hanging up there. She couldn’t call for mum or dad, they were shopping. Kate had to do something. Billy was coming for her now. Kate started running as fast as she could, but instead of running into Billy and Roger and bumping them out of the way she ran right through Billy’s legs and crashed into the climbing frame. “Kate, no!” Sasha shouted, “your shaking the climbing frame, I can’t hold on anymore!” Kate wasn’t listening because she shot back from the climbing frame and knocked Billy over who fell on top of Roger. Kate kept on flying and hit the football goal with her head. Billy and Roger quickly stood up and ran away. Sasha very carefully climbed down the climbing frame and ran to Kate who was still lying on the floor bleeding from her head. “You saved my life!” Sasha exclaimed. “No problem…” Kate said. That was the last thing Kate said before she was unconscious.

15. Once again Kate pulled herself out of her flashback. This flashback made her feel very proud of herself. Sasha had given her a “hero” medal. Kate still had it on her desk in her office. When ever colleges would come in they would always ask: “Where have you gotten that lovely medal?” And of course Kate would always tell them.

16. 8 years later. “Mummy! Mummy! Show us your wings again!!!” Kate's children all pleaded. “OK!OK! I will show them one more time, but then it’s time for bed. Promise?” Kate asked. “Yes! Yes! Yes!” They all cheered. Slowly and carefully Kate opened her wings. “Wow…” The little caterpillars said, “Will we also get those rare wings when we grow up?” Rosy, the youngest caterpillar asked. “Yes, of course you will!” Kate said, as she lifted Rosy up in the air, “ Now of you lot go to bed!” “Goodnight!” All 14 caterpillars chorused. “Good night!” Kate and her husband, Tom said. They brought the children into their bed rooms and kissed them goodnight. “What a lovely family we are…” Kate sighed, smiling at her husband, “Well I'm exhausted. I guess I will go to bed too! Are you coming?” Kate asked. “Sure! I’m tired too!” Tom said yawning. So they crawled into bed and fell asleep the second their head touched the pillow.
