DSA was founded on 15th December 1999 from the initiative of local government representatives of more Central Danube Valley settlements, representers of Danube-related organizations and environmental activists. • Main goals: • Coordination and joint representation of the ecological, cultural and regional develpoment interests of the settlements on both sides of the Danube according to their connection to the Danube and their natural conditions. • In order to fulfill the general objectives development, validation and management of the Danube Ecological Region. • Networking with foreign organizations and associations with similar purposes and nurturing these relationships continously.
Over the last years the members of the Association has considered as important objectives: • Rehabilitation of the Danube side-arms, protection and restoration of the natural environment valuable and attractive for the population. • Strengthening the Danubes ability to retain population, increasing the attractiveness of tourism. • Among its activities the most remarkable one is the participation in the Interreg Programme in Szigetköz, where the prior object was to jointly substantiate the rehabilitation of Szigetköz-Csallóköz-Danube-floodplain and river arm system
Network building activity • governments of the Danube settlements • Tourinform agencies • Professional organizations • Non-governmental associations • Hungarian National association of local Authorities • National association of Radio Distress-Signalling and Infocommunication
Two of our network members have been selected for the presentation - they have managed to implement such best practices that can serve as examples for others as well. • Cultural Institut of Tolna County • Yacht Port in Kisapostag
Inno-Agrária Public Benefit Organization – is working to ensure a civil side partner, an umbrella organization to the governrmental side within the Danube Strategy • The aim of the umbrella organisation: • to recognize and register the developments within the Danube Strategy • the detection of the bodies and organisations interested • reconciliation of their interests and as converted programs presenting them to the government and to the Union
The umbrella organization -creates a program developer cluster in charge of planning the accepted programs related to the Danube Strategy and the sub-programs deducted from them -collects the regional projects related to the sub-programs as well -communicates the complete program to the government • The final propose of the organisation is to develop the touristic services along the Danube
We would like to offer now this form of networking to the other member countries along the Danube, for you, so later the umbrella organizations of the countries by conversion to an alliance will create a professional policy advocacy union in Brussels.
