  12. Low-Carbon Social Housingin Netherfield, Milton Keynes Our Study Identified and Recommended: The use of external insulation methods. The refurbishment of the building roofs and in particular the use of mono-pitch roof structures, to incorporate PV arrays. The use of a district biomass heating scheme. Funding now being sought for pilot study of these interventions.

  14. Renewables For Municipal Buildings Providing Project Management for a large scale field trial of building integrated photovoltaic's. Providing access to government funding, securing the maximum possible contribution of £135,400. The scheme included two different types of solar technology with a combined maximum output of 23kW (Peak). Partnering with ECI to provide 2 years of post instillation monitoring.

Community Engagement Case StudyParadigm Housing, Hayes, Hillingdon Borough of London • 24 ‘social housing’ dwellings, built to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 5. • Includes sedum roof, photovoltaic lighting, thermal efficient construction, heat recovery, rainwater harvesting, light tubes, and heating/hot water provided by communal biomass boiler. • Aim: engage, inform and inspire residents to become as eco-friendly as the homes they live in, and expand into the surrounding neighbourhood.
