  3. Starling forces • hydrostatic pressure and interstitial osmotic pressure favor flux out of capillaries • capillary osmotic pressure and interstitial hydraulic pressure favor flux into capillaries. • Net effect is fluid loss into interstitial tissues, returned by lymphatics to blood
