Introduction The history books teach that Native American were not as civilized or as technologically advanced as the Europeans that conquered them, and this web quest is going to challenge this notion. Although the Native Americans had many achievements this web quest is going to focus on one achievement and that is the construction of Pyramids. Home Your Assignment

  3. Your Assignment • In this web quest you are taking the role of the architect of a pyramid! You have to pick out the right type of land to build your pyramid on. Also, you must see to it that you pick the right materials and get the materials to the place where you intend to build. However, before you can build a pyramid you must first find out what materials that pyramids were built of and how they were constructed. You must pay close attention to the details if you are to successfully build a pyramid. (Although our web quest deals with the Native American pyramids, some of the material that you have to read will relate to the Egyptians. Therefore, keep in mind that a few links and the game will deal with the Egyptian pyramids. If you can build a Egyptian pyramid then you can build a Native American pyramid!)   4. How to Proceed • Before beginning building a pyramid you must first learn what pyramids were made of and what they look like. Go to this website and look at the pictures and then read about what the pyramids are made of and what was their use. After reading write down what tools you think they used to build the pyramids, and how they did it? • Next you need to know what tools were used to build the pyramids. Go to this website and read the section titled ramps and raising blocks. After completing the reading answering this question, how did ramps and raising blocks help the Native Americans in building the pyramids? • To actually make a pyramid stand you have to know the angles and other details that will assist you in making a pyramid. Go to this website and read the 7th through the 10th paragraph. Make sure to pay close attention as not paying attention to these details could cost you your life. The ruler will not be happy if the pyramid for his burial is not completed in reasonable time. • After going through the websites it is time to put your knowledge to work. Looking back at the great technological advances of the Native Americans from a present perspective it not only amazes us but it baffles us that they could build something like that with the tools that they had.
