In this article for the "Tell the World" project, I share my personal journey as an immigrant and nursing student. From the struggles I faced in arriving in America to my experiences as an LPN student, and now pursuing a Bachelor's degree at JMU, I aim to shed light on my life in a small community. I want my neighbors to understand the challenges I've overcome and the significant role I play as a nurse and student. After submitting my article to the Culpeper Star Exponent, I'm eagerly awaiting their response on whether it will be published.

Tell the World Project By Denise Lewis
For my “Tell the World” project • For my Tell the World project I wanted to write a letter to the editor of our local newspaper • I later decided to write an article about my life as an immigrant, • The struggles to get to America • My nursing journey from a LPN student to now a Bachelor’s degree student at JMU • I live in a small town and the reason I chose to write this article is because I want people in my community to know about me and my role as a nurse/ student
Who did I present it to • I contacted the Culpeper Star Exponent to get information on how to proceed with submitting my article • The information I received was to send article to newspaper email address • each reporter will get a copy of article and review the article and then decide whether or not to publish it
How did it go • This was a difficult assignment for me because I couldn’t figure out what I wanted to tell the world about nursing • I decided I was going to tell the world (my community) about my personal life struggles and my role as a nurse and nursing student • I have submitted the article to the newspaper email address and I am anxiously waiting to see if it gets published
