Limerick The Boy By, Danielle There was a boy With lots of joy He saw a clown And started to frown The little boys name was Troy A limerick is a five-line poem written with one couplet and one triplet. Limericks are meant to be funny. They often contain hyperbole, onomatopoeia, idioms, puns, and other figurative devices. The last line of a good limerick contains the PUNCH LINE or "heart of the joke."

Haiku Spring Flowers Flowers are blooming Little girls pick sunflowers The sun is shining Gerald "Haiku" is a traditional form of Japanese poetry.  Haiku poems consist of 3 lines.  The first and last lines of a Haiku have 5 syllables and the middle line has 7 syllables.  The lines rarely rhyme.

I AM Poem I Am I am special and interesting I wonder am I going to past fourth grade I hear the sound of waves I see a nice beach I want to be rich I am special and interesting I pretend to be a star I feel good I touch the cold water at the beach I worry that I am not going to pass this year I cry if my mom spanks me I am special and interesting I understand other people and myself I say “I will follow my dreams” I dream I will have a family when I grow up I try my best I hope that I pass fourth grade I am special and interesting Keyonna This is a poem that can be used to describe any character, setting, idea or concept fond in literature from language arts, social studies, science, math, and art. The possibilities where you can use it with your class are endless... It can have as many or as few stanzas as you wish. It is a wonderful way to teach about nouns, verbs, and adjectives. You can change the nouns and verbs you use to fit your lesson.

I am thankful for family because they take care of me. They love me. They teach me. They feed me. They give me everything that I have. I am thankful for food because it keeps me healthy. It keeps me in shape. It keeps me full. It keeps me alive. It has a god taste. I am thankful for my home because it is shelter. I t keeps me warm. It is where I put my property. I sleep there. I eat there. I am thankful for my family, food, and my home. I am thankful for those things because I need them to survive. I need these things because they are a part of my life. Free verse poetry is a type of poetry that does not have a specific and structured rhythm or rhyme.
