Performance of pre-qualification modules • 3 Pre-qualification modules on sector, replaced built-in-shunt-shield modules • K5-512 in position I9 (inner, upper) • K5-505, K5-517 in positions O8, O12 (outer, lower) • Full characterisation, noise injection performed with ground scheme variations • Without noise injection, performance does not vary with ground scheme. At Thybrid~30o: • K5-512: ~1150 electrons • K5-505: ~1650 electrons • K5-517: ~1750 electrons J.Pater - Systemtest/SR1 Status/Plans

  4. Frequency of injected noise • However, ‘new’ (?) dependence on frequency of injected noise is observed: • Peaks at 21, 30 MHz (max) have not been seen before. • NB only did a full scan once, long ago. • Fortunately no peak at 40 MHz! J.Pater - Systemtest/SR1 Status/Plans

  6. AGND-pin connection + direct contact block-to-hybrid AGND-pin connection, no block-hybrid contact Module-block interface Slightly better performance with block-hybrid isolation. Again differences in frequency response. J.Pater - Systemtest/SR1 Status/Plans

  7. Thermal grease? • Slightly better performance seen if back of hybrid is isolated from the cooling block using a piece of thermally-conductive, electrically isolating fabric. • Grease applied to blocks for these three modules, and resistance AGND-block measured. Two modules showed ~ 0-0.5Ω, the third showed infinite resistance i.e. open. • Injection not yet performed on this configuration. J.Pater - Systemtest/SR1 Status/Plans

Change in opto-receiver response • PIN diodes in OPTIF modules have thresholds  windows of good operation. • This window used to be very narrow, now is much wider. • Change seemed to come with change from old wiggly tapes (wide, Al traces) to new (narrow, Cu traces + piggyback wires). NB old tapes had separate vled0/vled1 lines, new tapes supply vleds in parallel with one line. • This change should be understood. Intend to put some old tapes back on sector and investigate.   9. Plans • Finish injections on current sector configuration (test effect of thermal grease). • Add more modules (3 more outers available), side-by-side. Inject noise, see if pickup worse with more modules. • Investigate change in opto-receiver threshold window. • Install and test new PPF1s and PP3s: • Requires old Cu tapes (running from PP1 to PP2) to be replaced with TypeII cables, have enough of these for 6 modules but need to attach PPF1-end connectors. • Test redundancy links • Links have Samtec connectors, modules have Specialties. Options, in order of preference: • Get a couple of production modules • Get some redundancy links made with Specialties (won’t provide a good test of mechanical properties of final-version links) • Use Specialty-Samtec adaptors (even worse mechanical test, maybe not even good electrical test.) SR1 • Currently barrel sector is installed in SR1, to be used to build test-area DAQ (currently being worked on in B161). • RODs etc. for assembly-area (endcap acceptance testing) DAQ are expected in March, at which time the endcap sector will move to SR1 and be used to commission this system.
