  2. Why Religion? • African-American’s religion as of today is; Christianity. • Religion was/ and is an everyday aspect of life for African-Americans. Religion and keeping their faith was the only thing that kept people alive during times of slavery. • Religion was their fuel, there energy and power to get through their hard day.

  3. Statistics • Compared with other racial and ethnic groups, African-Americans are the most likely to be a formal religious affiliation. • 87% of African-Americans describing themselves as belonging to one religious group.

  4. African-American’s have strong religious orientation and a support network which are churches and their community. • They use natural remedies the frequently used is, prayer to heal.
