Importing titles and copies • When in doubt, stick with the defaults if you are importing a microlif from a vendor. Always Preview first!!!!
Importing titles and copies • Take the time to assign copy information. It will come in handy.
Adding Titles Manually • Adding titles • To best limit your results, search first by ISBN • Sort through the results and identify the title that best matches your needs • Always attach your copies to the District Catalogued titles when at all possible. We want to minimize the number of unnecessary titles in the District Catalog. • Alliance Plus titles should only be used when a DC title is not available, or when the DC titles are inadequate to attach your copies to. • Z-Sources can be used when neither of the previous two options are available.
Editing Titles • Always check to see which other Media Centers are using a title before editing the title. • Only edit a title if the change is helpful to the other schools who have their copies attached to it. • Titles should be standardized, not idiosyncratic. Don’t make up the rules to cataloging.
Editing Titles • 10 digit and 13 digit ISBNs • Edit Title / MARC format / Add Tag 020
Printing Labels • Will generate separate .pdf files
Printing Labels • Labels by the batch
Printing Labels • When would you select by Date Copies Added? Barcode List? Copy Category?
Merging titles and copies • What is the best way to merge titles? • Print out or write down the barcode numbers and copy info of the copies that you want to move • Delete the copies under Catalog tab / Update Copies • Locate the best title match and re-add the copies to that title • If you notice a title that should be merged for multiple sites, let me know the isbn, and I can merge them for everyone
