  8. A Student Growth Percentile (SGP) offers a dynamic new way of looking at growth (progression) by comparing a student’s growth with that of his or her academic peers nationwide. Reading – Accelerated Reader

  9. Reading – Accelerated Reader How does it work? http://www.renlearn.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/What-Parents-need-to-know.pdf

  10. To start… • Children are given 1 decimal value to use for their first ever book selection ‘e.g. 3.2’. Once they have read and quizzed, showing super effort and 80% of questions correct, they will be given a decimal range to select books from ‘e.g. 3.2-4.6’. This first book is to practise the routine and learn the system. Children are assessed 4 times a year using the Star Reading test (20 minutes), so their decimal range will change, along with their reading age and other data we can share with you at parents evening.

  11. Finding Books at Home • At present, the book they borrow from us will stay in school. • Your children will have their ZPD (decimal number) a link to the Book Finder website, a link to the Home Connect portal and their login/password in homework diaries. https://www.arbookfind.co.uk/ https://ukhosted67.renlearn.co.uk/6712756/homeconnect/ Mrs Colley will be running a parent workshop 2.30pm on18th September. Please encourage your children to read within their decimal range at home and spread the joy of reading and books. Please be patient with staff as this is a new venture for us and a lot of time, money and effort has gone into providing this super resource for our students.

  12. Spellings – No Nonsense Spellings

  13. AR READING • Each day the whole school will read between 8:50am until 9:15am. • Your child has been assessed and will have to read the book level assigned to him/her (in school) ZPD score. • This book STAYS in school (other books can be read at home (try to find suitable levels) • AR time is also ‘quizzing’ time to gauge understanding. • Star tests are done 4 times a year to assess progress and if your child needs to move up a level.
