  2. What is our Mission? To provide financial assistance for Kiwanis projects and programs within our District.

  3. In the last 20 years, the Foundation has… Awarded over half a million dollars in grants Impacted over 421,000 children $382,000 in Key Club, Circle K and Key Leader scholarships and training $64,500 for 490 AEDs $13,000 to charities for Teacher, Firefighter, Lawman and Layman Award recipients

  4. How do we accomplish this? Community Service Project Grants AED Grants K-Family Leadership Training K-Family Scholarships

  5. These awards include: • In our District, over $93,000 has been given to clubs for Community Service Grants. • In the aftermath of Katrina, Kiwanians in need were awarded grants of $49,915. • $75,000 was given to local food banks and individuals who were impacted from 2016 floods in Baton Rouge area.

  6. Community Service Grants We have two levels of Community Service Grants: • LEVEL ONE GRANTS: ($2,001 to $5,000) - awarded twice each year • See application for specifics. Club must be in good standing with the Foundation. • Community Service Grants from the Foundation are “Reimbursement Grants,” in that clubs must show receipts of all expenditures for the project, under IRS rules for expense responsibility. • Clubs will be reimbursed 75% of the project’s total expenditures up to the maximum amount of the grant award, once club receipts are presented and reviewed. • Community Service Grants are awarded based upon availability of thebudgeted funds. • Details and application can be found at lamisstenn.org/foundation!

Community Service Grants We have two levels of Community Service Grants: • LEVEL TWO GRANTS: Up to $2,000 - awarded monthly as needed • Deadline to submit applications is by the 1st of each month or until funding is depleted. • These are “Reimbursement Grants,” in that clubs must show receipts of all expenditures for the project, under IRS rules for expense responsibility. • Clubs will be reimbursed 75% of the project’s total expenditures up to the maximum amount of the grant award, once club receipts are presented and reviewed. • NEW Clubs in their first year are eligible for 100% reimbursement of a project (up to $2,000). • Level 2 Grants are awarded based upon availability of the budgeted funds. • Details and application can be found at lamisstenn.org/foundation!

  8. Amory Kiwanis Backpack Program Prepare, pack and deliverbackpacks with supplementary nutrition to help needy children get through a weekend. More than 40 children are supported by this program. Your Dollars at Work!

  9. DeRidder Kiwanis Food Booth Rebuild At Beauregard Parish Fair, it is a family tradition to eat burgers and gumbo at the Kiwanis Club booth! Your Dollars at Work!

  10. Union City Kiwanis Trudy’s Kids Cafe Helping provide free meals to children 0-18 and homework assistance for grades 1-12. Your Dollars at Work!

  11. Millington Kiwanis Playground New playground equipment at Aycock Park for children to enjoy! Your Dollars at Work!

  12. Houma Kiwanis Refurbishing Musical Instruments Your Dollars at Work! Play It Again Terrebonne Program

  13. Lucedale Kiwanis Flashcard Project Multiplication flash cards are presented to 3rd grade students at Benndale Elementary. Your Dollars at Work!

  14. Matching Contributions At least 6 lives have been saved. AED Grants: $750 towards an AED purchased for schools $500 towards an AED purchased for other facilities 78 of 121 LaMissTenn clubs participating $64,500 for over 490 AED’s

  15. Scholarships and Leadership Training To date, $382,000 has been awarded for Scholarships / Leadership / Key Leaders

  16. How can your CLUB help fund even more projects? Annual Club Gift Endowment Fund Circle of Honor Gift Baskets

  17. Annual Club Giving Campaign ACG CAMPAIGN is the largest source of income for the LaMissTenn District Foundation! The campaign begins each year on Oct. 1 and ends on Sept. 30. Clubs are encouraged to donate by Jun. 30, allowing time to prepare awards and recognitions for District Convention. 2018-19 Annual Club Giving Campaign

  18. Endowment Fund River of Life Fellowship One-time donation or pledged over multi-year period. Recognized with a framed print. $1,000 tax-deductible donation.

  19. Endowment Fund Henry W. Nash ~ Eugene J. Maier Tablet of Honor Highest honor District Foundation could bestow. Named after two of the District Foundation’s founding members. $1,000 tax-deductible donation.

  20. Endowment Fund John T. Roberts Fellowship • Created in honor of the District’s first Kiwanis International President. • Additional levels of Roberts Fellowship: • Sapphire-level (donate $2,500) • Ruby-level (donate $5,000) • Diamond-level (donate $10,000) • Fellows receive a medallion and lapel pin.

  21. Circle of Honor Award • Customize your club awards at competitive prices while assisting your Foundation! • Leadership Circle may honor officers, board members, etc. • President’s Circle may honor Past President or demonstrate presidential recognition. • Rookie of the Year, Committee Chair, New Member, Outstanding Accomplishmentsor any other award title!!

  22. Gift Baskets • A great way to showcase your local specialties at District Convention and Mid-Winter Conferences. • Nearly $9,800 was raised during 2017-18 on gift baskets alone!

  23. How can INDIVIDUALShelp fund more projects? • Currently over $500,000 additional funds will allow for additional grants. • ANYONE can donate to the Foundation and it is tax deductible. Continue to support the Endowment Fund! Friends of the Foundation Memorial Gift/Will

Endowment Fund Friends of the Foundation • For as little as $10/month ($120/yr) you can become a Friend of the Foundation! • Members may work towards the goal of larger Fellowship • Being a Friend of the Foundation is one of the requirements for Distinguished Kiwanian • Contributors receive lapel pin

  25. Endowment Fund Memorial Gift • Pay tribute to the memory of someone whose presence has been taken from us, but whose Kiwanis spirit and accomplishments live on. • Acknowledgement of the donationgift will be sent to the family and to the donor.

  26. Endowment Fund Estate & Financial Planning The Foundation can also be used for Estate and Financial planning (as a beneficiary of retirement accounts and life insurance policies).

  27. Do We Have You Thinking YET? • How many of you have one, two or maybe three pending projects in your club that could use the help of “up to” $5,000? • Act NOW and do the homework • Apply for the grant • Raise your funds • Complete the project
