May You Rise… Deonte Bridges | Follow-Up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IyAdMhXkt0 I am the dream and the hope of the slave. I rise. My faith in God and my ability to overcome adversity and make rational decisions have resulted in my academic success. I am committed to education, and I choose to do what is necessary, not what is popular. Had I given in, I would not stand before you today, honored and humbled, to be the first African American male valedictorian in Booker T. Washington High School in more than a decade. Bringing the gifts that our ancestors gave, we are the hope, we are the dream. We rise. We rise. We rise. ~ Excerpt from Deonte Bridges’ Valedictory Speech
