Main Functions: • Support- provides structural support • Protection- surrounds soft tissue , and all major organs • Movement- skeletal muscle is attached to bone so it pulls the bone when it contracts
Main organs • All 206 bones • Cartilage • Tendons • ligaments
Skeletal System works with: • Muscular system- relaxes and contracts the bones and creates movement • Immune system- bone marrow produces white blood cells • Nervous system- the vertebral column holds the spinal cord needed for nervous connections throughout the body
