  3. HISTORY • Developed in the late 40s • Used in Civilian Market • Introduced to the Army in 1996

  4. CONSIDERATIONS • MDI DOES NOT CHANGE CHARGE EMPLACEMENT OR SETUP • MDI IS STRICTLY AN IGNITION SYSTEM CHANGE.

  5. CAPABILITIES • Standard military demolition missions • Deepwater up to 30 meters • Quarrying(with special application). • Instant or delay initiation • Eliminates accidental initiation from static, transmitters, or electrical discharge • Hybrid (two types of firing systems) • MDI Stand Alone • MDI/Det Cord, Det Cord/MDI

  7. M9 HOLDER • USES: • Secure a blasting cap (small flap end) • Secure shock tubes to the blasting cap (larger flap) • Can secure up to five shock tubes for initiation • PACKAGING: • 50 Ea Per box • 10 boxes per crate • Crate Total- 500

  9. M11 BLASTING CAP • A branch line to a primary charge • To ignite shock tube or detonating cord • “High Strength Cap”

  10. M11 DESCRIPTION • 2 FLAGS • 1 YELLOW (two meters from cap) • 1 RED (one meter from cap) • J HOOK CONNECTORUsed to secure det cord • PACKAGING • Individual coil—30ft. long • 6 coils per fiber board box • 10 boxes per crate • Crate Total= 60 coils

  11. M12 TRANSMISSION LINE • Relay for the initiation pulse to another relay or high strength cap • Low Strength Cap • Command Detonation “ Transmission Line Only”

  12. M12 PACKAGING • 500 FT. per spool • 2 Ea spools per foil bag • 4 bags per crate • Crate total- 8 spools/ 4000 Ft.

  13. M13 TRANSMISSION LINE • Relay for the initiation pulse to another relay or high strength cap • Low Strength Cap • Command Detonation “ Transmission Line Only”

  20. M81 IGNITER • To Ignite Time Blasting Fuse (M14) • Ignite Shock Tube • M81 has a stronger cap • than M60, heavier case, • and 2 plugs
