  1. My Culture (MMM…GRAPES) By Helen Dong

  2. MMM… My name is Helen. Why? Because my Dad thought it sounded pretty. I was born on December 5, 1999. Therefore, I am currently 12 years old. Basically, ‘Helen’ means ‘Fire.’ Websites say that it means ‘Torch’ or ‘Corposant’, both of which have to do with fire. It could also be related to the Greek Goddess of the Moon, Selene. Special or Unique Family Customs? Does eating Chinese Food every day count? I have a very simple family. My Mom, Dad, and Max the Fish. That’s all there is. Unless you count the cousins/uncles/aunts in China.

  3. Geography I currently reside in the town of Westwood, MA. My favorite place in the whole world: China. Most of my relatives still live there. I want to visit Germany. I can’t explain why, lets just say I’ve wanted to go there ever since I started watching the anime Hetalia.

  4. Religion I practice no religion. Some call me an atheist. My family celebrates many Chinese holidays such as Chinese New Year, the Autumn Moon Festival, Yuan Xiao Jie, and Duan Wu Jie As for traditions and stuff, we don’t do much. But we eat Chinese food everyday, if that counts. And I get money in red envelopes on Chinese New Year.

  5. Arts and Technology I’m a huge Artemis Fowl fan. The best book I happened to read in the past year was also the last book of the AF series: Artemis Fowl and The Last Guardian. The above poster/picture shows the cover of that book. Other than that, I enjoy playing piano and archery. …and my usual mode of transport is by car.

  6. Politics My Dad’s supposed to make the rules in my family AND enforce them. Some rules in my house are: I need to keep my room clean and make sure my desk doesn’t look like something exploded atop it, and that I should be doing my Chinese homework every week. I’m in the Boston Guzheng Ensemble and the Jazz Band here at school. That’s about it.

  7. Society I’m an only child. No brothers, no sisters. My parents attended schools in China and Canada. I speak Mandarin and English and am currently learning French and Russian. I speak Mandarin and occasional Shanghainese with my parents. My favorite foods are truffles…but we never get them in our house…
