  2. Cons about building it • $8 billion to build • 800 miles long • Pipeline rusts

  3. Cons the pipeline has to wildlife and the wilderness • Polluted streams and rivers • Any wildlife drinking from the water or eating polluted land will get sick and die • Many salmon and other fish would die

  4. Cons about the spills • The spills will cause many deaths • Oil will seek into permafrost • Many trees and plants will die • Many gallons can be lost in a few hours by a dime size hole

  5. Facts about the cons • A hunter shot the pipeline by accident. 120 gallons of oil per minute spewed out. In 36 hours 300,000 gallons of oil spilled into the permafrost, streams, rivers, and onto the land and trees.

  6. Facts • Pipeline is 800 miles long • Crosses 800 streams and rivers • Twelve pumps to pump oil • Pipe has a 48 inch diameter • Each 40ft section weighs 1400 pounds • Made in Japan • 88000 barrels go through the pipe every hour
