Sample breakdown of impromptu speech prep time: • 2-3 minutes: With your partner, briefly discuss key terms and possible definition/s • 2-3minutes: Brainstorm main arguments with your partner • 5-8 minutes: Divide and conquer (each choose a main argument or two) • Write down main ideas/support/evidence for your argument/s • 3-5 minutes: Come back together to share speech preparation • 3-5 minutes: Take time to anticipate the opposition • What might the opposition’s case be? Anticipate their arguments and ALSO how they MAY argue against you. • Any remaining time: Final speech preparation
