NCTRC & APIE • In April, 1997 the NCTRC board recognized the need to clarify that the TR process is the critical aspect of eligibility standards, not the practice setting • The intent was to remove the focus on the practice setting and to emphasize the TR process as defined by the NCTRC Job Analysis

Shank & Coyle, Chpt. 4 • Clinical practice is: • systematic and planned use of recreation and other activity interventions • and a helping relationship • in an environment of support • with the intent of effecting change in a client’s attitudes, beliefs, behaviors, and skills • necessary for psychosocial adaptation, health, and well-being (p. 54)
