  1. 01-28-13 Monday Biology Agenda Objective and reminders Objective: demonstrate an understanding of replication, translation, and transcription. Become introduced to mutations. Reminders: Test Thursday! Bring 50 cent in by tomorrow! Lab can not be pushed back again ( if you need a parent letter, one can be printed) Homework: Have vocabulary done by Friday. ( daily reminders will be on power-point), vocab is the next slide • Bell Work 33 ( complete chart on the front board) – 10 min • Notes: Mutations ( Changes in DNA worksheet)- fill out and follow along with the power-point. ( 15 -20 min) – power-point copy righted and CANOT BE ATTACHED!- we will stop at the pedigree charts • Applying to real life ( examples of mutations) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzTw3n6BXtw ( watch 10-15min) 4. Closure:reminders

  2. Homework assignment #1 Vocabulary of Instruction

  3. 1-28-12 continued Advisory Chemistry Objective: demonstrate the concept of stoichiometry and moles Bell work: practice problems Work on Web-Quest Reminders: Quiz Thursday Objective: demonstrate an understanding of organic molecules • Notes: concept map • Video clip: Carbohydrates http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qf_r5EVP6U 3. Review questions

  4. 1-29-13 Biology Agenda Objective: demonstrate an understanding of replication, translation, and transcription. Demonstrate an understanding of the changes in DNA (mutations) Reminders: *Assembly tomorrow . *Test over Ch. 13 – Thursday *Homework: Vocab ( due Friday) Objective/reminders • Bell Ringer 34 ( 10 min) • Lab: Making A DNA Model and mRNA ( section 1 and 2 will be made in class, no models for section 3, answers only). 40 points models, 60 points questions • Clean up (last 3 -4min) Re state reminders to class

  5. Advisory week of 1-28-12 In advisory today have student use the place mats to match the lipids and carbohydrates.  Then have them complete a venn diagram comparing proteins and carbohydrates.  They must include 2 differences not found on the place mats and 1 commonality not found on the place mats.  Rebuild place mats compare Nucliec Acids and Lipids,  complete venn diagram, They must include 2 differences not found on the place mats and 1 commonality not found on the place mats. Wednesday • Rebuild place mats compare Nucleic acids and Proteins, compete venn diagram, They must include 2 differences not found on the place mats and 1 commonality not found on the place mats. Thursday • Rebuild place mats compare Carbohydrates and proteins, complete venn diagram, They must include 2 differences not found on the place mats and 1 commonality not found on the place mats. Friday • Quiz biomolecules

  6. Chemistry: 1-29-13 • Report out ( 10-15 min) • Start Web-quest : Mole Conversions (40 min) • Closure ( reminders, quiz Thursday)

  7. 1-30-12 Biology Agenda Objective: demonstrate an understanding of replication, translation, and transcription. Demonstrate an understanding of the changes in DNA (mutations) Reminders: *Test tomorrow: Ch. 12 sec 1-3 ( DNA structure, replication, transcription and translation) *Some people still owe 50 cent. ( grade point deduction) *Homework: ( vocabulary) due Friday 1. Bell Ringer 35 ( 7 min) 2. Complete second portion of lab: Reading DNA. In this section of the lab, you will construct your mRNA strand. (15 min.) 3. Clean up desk area, turn in models ( 3 min) models are 40 points 3. Complete lab questions section 1-3. ( 30 min) – Turn in lab questions ( lab questions 60 points) – PLEASE ASK FOR HELP IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND A QUESTION! Total time: ( 55 min)

  8. 1-30-13 Chemistry Reminders Quiz Friday ( pushed back a day) • Bell Work • Web quest: Moles • Closure: Reminders list

  9. 1-31-13 Thursday Biology Reminders Homework due tomorrow ( vocabulary from slide 2) Some people still owe 50 cent towards lab. Continue to study daily and check skyward ( on your on time of course) Objective: Demonstrate an understanding of the structure of DNA and its completes, how it replicates, and the process of protein synthesis ( transcription and translation. PLACE BACKPACKS TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROOM. TAKE ONLY A PENCIL TO YOUR SEAT AND WAIT FOR YOUR EXAM TO BE PASSED OUT • Test : Chapter 12 sec 1-3 • After you finish, work on completing your lab questions ( due today, and they SHOULD HAVE BEEN COMPLETED AT HOME).
