Enhancing Support for Carers in General Practice: A Collaborative Approach

This initiative, led by Nigel Sparrow and a partnership between the Royal College of General Practitioners and the Princess Royal Trust for Carers, aims to improve the health and support for hidden carers in general practice. Established in 2006, the program includes checklists for GP staff and carers, workshops, and ongoing education to empower GPs in identifying and addressing the needs of patient carers. The goal is to create a strong partnership between GPs and carers, enhancing care for vulnerable groups and promoting collaboration in healthcare settings.

RCGP GP Champions for Carers role GP Champions for Carers are responsible for championing, advising and supporting carer initiatives, events and commissioning in their locality, while working in partnership with Carer Ambassadors from Carers UK and Expert Practitioners from Carers Trust to develop a range of resources to help GPs and practice staff.
