- Credits for Graduation 24 Credits 4 Credits of English 4 Credits of Math 3 Credits of Science 3 Credits of Social Studies 2 Credits of Foreign Language (College) 1 Credit of Fine Arts/Performing Arts 1 Credit of Physical Education (HOPE) or JROTC I & II 8 Credits of Electives
- Graduation Requirements 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 GPA SCALE Pass the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test
- Credit Recovery Any Student who has Failed or received a “D” in any class may RECOVER the class in TWO Ways: Odyssey ware (See Mr. James in Guidance to get set up) Florida Virtual (Apply online for the course and wait admissions)
- Florida Virtual School Admissions is Free to Florida Public School Students Need a Course Recover a Course Missing requirements for College See Ms. Shirlean Thomas for Approval
- Senior Audits Done Twice a Year At the beginning to make sure Seniors are on track to graduate with proper course selections taken and any courses needed. At the end of the school year, to verify eligibility to WALK in Senior Activities. Verifies All Courses Taken, Grades, and any courses needed. Students receive a copy of their transcripts in the Fall.
- FCAT Retakes Students who have not passed “FCAT” All Students who have not passed are required to take FCAT Retakes regardless if you have met the concordance score on ACT or SAT!! Testing Window for the Fall October 15th through 19th, 2012 Testing window for Spring April 2013
- ACT Testing and Registration Dates http://www.actstudent.org Registration Dates (see Handout) ACT with No Writing $35.00 ACT with Writing $50.50 (If going to a Major University, a writing score is usually required)
- ACT Concordance Score Students who have not passed FCAT must have sat for FCAT a minimum of “3” times before the ACT/SAT concordance score is accepted Students who have not passed FCAT must have an “18” in Reading and a “15” in Math
- ACT Waivers Waivers are available Students are allowed TWO Free Waivers in their LIFETIME if they qualify for the following: Free or Reduced Lunch Other
- Last Testing Window to be considered for Participation in Graduation Ceremony April 2013
- SAT Testing and Registration Dates
- SAT Concordance Score 420 Reading 340 Math
- ASVABArmed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery Any student who is interested taking the ASVAB for admission and career exploration program into the Military should see Col. Lubbers in JROTC. Test Dates to be Announced Later
- P.E.R.T. (Post Secondary Education Readiness Test) All Seniors are eligible to take the PERT as a Senior PERT scores are used as a part of placement into Community and Junior Colleges Students are allowed only ONE testing time in HIGH SCHOOL and ONE at the College Level before admission
- Free Application for Financial Student Assistance www.fafsa.gov Apply starting January 1, 2013 for the Fall Term of your first year in College Must be reapplied every year thereafter Help with FAFSA Forms or website is offered in Guidance Must have your Parents Current Year Tax Return
- Scholarships Website for various Scholarship offerings Check in Guidance for scholarship applications that arrive It is the students responsibility to search, apply and follow through with scholarships. The more scholarships your child is awarded the less you as a parent will have to pay out of pocket for college expenses.
- Bright Futures Scholarship Students must apply to be considered for Bright Futures on the Florida website below (Florida Financial Aid Application) http://www.floridastudentfinancialaid.org
- Dual Enrolled at Tallahassee Community College Students who have a 3.0 GPA and are interested in taking COLLEGE COURSES while still in HIGH SCHOOL for FREE... Spring Course Interest is NOW!!!! Students take classes while on East Gadsden Campus via Computer. Books are provided.
- Pat Thomas Law Enforcement Want Certification after GRADUATION to immediately go into the WORKFORCE? Law Enforcement/Corrections/Dispatch See Mr. NeSmith or Ms. T. McNeil for Information
- Gadsden Technical Institute Students will spend half a day on GTI’s campus to get certification in a TRADE that they may use once high school is completed. Various Certifications available Cosmetology Mechanic Other Areas (Nursing, Business)
- NCAA Eligibility Website www.NCAA.org Requirements for eligibility differ from College Requirements as well as High School Graduation Requirements
- Community Service Hours All Community service hours should be recorded Forms are in Guidance Students who are seeking Bright Futures need 100 Community Service Hours
- Parent Student Conferences Conferences with Teachers and Parents can be arranged for immediately following the school day. Conferences with Guidance for Senior Audits with Ms. Thomas must be made in advance.
- Final Senior Audit Done after SENIOR FINAL EXAMS Counselors are Unavailable for Conferences during this time
- Val and Sal Valedictorian and Salutatorian Honors are based on the first Seven semester of high school. WEIGHTED GPA Announced in March of 2013.
- Clearance for Graduation Clearance of Senior DEBT List Clearance of ALL Credits Clearance of Standardized TESTING Scores Grade Point Average Make the GRADE to TAKE the WALK!!!
