This document outlines the vision and principles behind a learner-centered education system, as presented at the Commissioner’s Conference for Superintendents in Maine. Led by Commissioner Susan A. Gendron, it emphasizes the importance of personalized learning plans, multiple pathways for student success, and the integration of technology and data in education. The aim is to ensure all students graduate ready for post-secondary education, careers, and active citizenship. Emphasis is placed on the distinctions between standards-based and standards-referenced systems, and the need for continuous improvement and professional development.
