GermanyFACTS • Germany has the fourth largest economy in the world. • Germany has produced some of the worlds finest footballers , scientists philosophers and composers. • 27,000,000 Germans are members of sports clubs and the most popular past time is Football which is believed to be introduced by a English man. • Mountains • The highest mountain in Germany is the Zugspitze with 2,963 metres (roughly 10,000 feet). Germany's highest peak is one of Germany's top attractions and many tourists visit this place every year. You can take a cablecar up to the top of the mountain and have spectacular views of the Alps and the scenic Bavarian countryside from there.

The Bundesliga is the top division of the German league and is contested by 18 teams as of 2010. The national team plays around the country and has a successful history in the World Cup and the European championships. A golden era of German football was in the early 1970s, when the team was world and European champions. Club team Bayern Munich won the Champions League three times in a row. History German football began when the German Football Association was founded in Leipzig on 28th January, 1900. Germany was banned from taking part in sporting competitions after World War II and did not participate in any international soccer matches until 1950.Germany's international soccer teams were reunified as one nation in 1990, after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989.

  5. Facts • The cuckoo clock that features a small bird appearing through a wooden trap door was invented in Germany in the 17th century. As the bird comes out of the trap, it chirps like a cuckoo as the clock strikes the hour. • Germans have a fondness for sausages as is evident from more than 1200 varieties of sausages that are to be found here. • There are over 150 castles in Germany, although most of them have been converted to hotels. • One of the most popular fests in Germany is the Oktoberfest. It is a 16 day festival which is actually a public celebration which is characterized by music, dance and people guzzling down beer and food • Germany is known for its fabulous baked goods and pastries. There are over 300 types of bread and 1200 different types of cakes and pastries that are produced by Germany • One of the most famous places in Germany is the city of Trier which was known as "second Rome" as it was the home of several Roman emperors. • Germany has the highest amount of Zoos in the world with more 400 officially recognized zoos.

  6. Germany History German football began when the German Football Association was founded in Leipzig on Jan. 28, 1900. Germany was banned from taking part in sporting competitions after World War II and did not participate in any international soccer matches until 1950. The country was split into three sections, West Germany, East Germany and Saarland, which was under French control until it joined West Germany in 1957. Germany's international soccer teams were reunified as one nation in 1990, after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. Germanys biggest win was against Russia 16-0. Germanys biggest lose was against England 11-2.
